Guyanese Plait Bread

              Guyanese Plait Bread




INGREDIENTS:

1 packet quick rise yeast 
1/3 cup butter, melted
1.5 cups warm milk 
4tbsp brown sugar 
2tsp vanilla extract 
1/2tsp salt
3.5 cups sifted flour

NOTES: 
✨ If using traditional yeast, proof it first with ½ cup warm water and 1 tbsp sugar for 10 minutes until foamy. Reduce the warm milk to 1 cup so the total liquid stays the same and the dough doesn’t become too wet.


METHOD

1. ½ cup warm water  (110 Degrees F) and 1 tablespoon sugar for 10 minutes until foamy.
2. In a bowl add wet ingredients melted butter, warm milk, brown sugar & vanilla extract 
3. In another bowl add dry ingredients flour and salt and mix well 
4. Mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients slowly
5. Allow it to raise for an hour 
6. After 1 hour divide the dough it into 3 equal parts and roll it out into a stick 
7. On a baking tray add parchment paper and form the plait Bread right over middle, left over middle


8. Allow to rise again overnight uncovered in the oven
9. Moisten the top of bread by brushing it with some water 
10 Bake in convention oven at 350 deg F for 25 mins
11. After baking take out of oven and rub some butter unto of it..

Korean Fried Chicken (Dakgangjeong)

Ingredients:
- 500 grams chicken fillet (breast or thigh), diced
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 1/4 cup flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground pepper
- Cooking oil to taste
Sauce Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons sesame oil
- 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
- 3 tablespoons gochujang (Korean chili paste)
- 2 tablespoons honey or corn syrup
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds
- Sliced ​​scallions to taste (for garnish)
Method:
1. Chicken Preparation:
- Mix the chicken pieces with salt and pepper. Mix well and let sit for 15 minutes.
- In another bowl, combine the cornstarch and flour.
- Coat the chicken pieces in the flour mixture until evenly coated.
2. Frying the Chicken:
- Heat cooking oil over medium heat.
- Fry the chicken until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain.
3. Making the Sauce:
- Heat sesame oil in a pan. Sauté the garlic until fragrant.
- Add the gochujang, honey, soy sauce, and rice vinegar. Stir well and cook until the sauce thickens.
4. Finishing:
- Add the fried chicken to the pan with the sauce. Stir well until all the chicken pieces are coated with the sauce.
- Sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds and sliced ​​green onions.
- Serve immediately.
