Buying a Car - Checklist

 Things I like to see:

-Usually inexpensive fixes if you do it yourself but costs a good amount at a shop…
-Need to do research to make sure it isn't difficult and that parts are not expensive…

  1. Check computer for trouble codes
  2. Head gasket leak
  3. Needs brakes, calipers, or brake lines
  4. Bad suspension parts
  5. Bad exhaust
  6. Dirty Interior
  7. Dirty/Faded Paint (NOT peeling or bubbling)
  8. Oxidized Headlights (NOT damaged)
  9. Damaged bumper covers and fenders
  10. Dead fuel pump
  11. No air conditioning
  12. Damaged radiator
  13. No power steering
  14. Sagging Headliner
Stuff to check and know the condition before you buy:
-These fixes can get expensive but people don’t discount the price because “it still works”…
-Some of these fixes are not typically DIY
-Can make selling the car difficult if they are not fixed

  2. Windshield Chips and Cracks
  3. Damaged Seats
  4. Worn Tires
  5. Even wear across the tread?
  6. 4/32 of tire tread or more (George Washington’s Head on a quarter)
  7. Sidewall damage
  8. Bad 12v Battery
